The section wrapped up 2011 with two Toys for Tots events this year! Thank you to everyone who donated toys. On Tuesday, December 6th about 40 people attended the event that was held at Brown’s Brewing Company in Troy. With the help of the RPI Student Chapter, well over 200 toys were collected at this event. On Thursday, December 8th, over 75 people gathered at Bentley’s Tavern in Malta and brought over 250 toys. In total, the ASCE Mohawk-Hudson Section was able to contribute almost 500 toys to the annual Marines Toys for Tots program. Staff Sergeant Bolen, Toys for Tots Coordinator, was extremely grateful for the toys and is looking forward to working with us in the future. Many thanks to section member Ed Larkin, P.E., M.ASCE for planning two extremely successful events!
The section’s geotechnical technical group hosted the 2011 Geosymposium at Hudson Valley Community College on Friday, November 18th. There were about 80 attendees at the event. Thank you to Gary Dale, P.E., M.ASCE, Carsten Floess, Ph.D., P.E., F.ASCE, and Andrew Jensen, A.M.ASCE for all their hard working in coordinating the event.
The section is anticipating that 2012 will be a very busy year! Here is a list of some upcoming events.
