ASCE President-Elect Blaine Leonard will be the key-note speaker. During that day, the Section has arranged for an Albany Aqua-Duck Tour with Blaine on May 14, 2009 from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM (prior to the Annual Dinner). If anyone is interested in joining, please go to www.albanyaquaducks.com. This will be a great opportunity for ASCE members to personally meet Blaine Leonard. There will also be an Order of the Engineer Ceremony to be held prior to the dinner.
Summer Golf Outing - July 24 at Airway Meadows
The committee continues to organize for the upcoming 2009 summer golf tournament. We hope to break last year’s attendance that brought in over $5,000 for the Section’s Annual Scholarship Fund. Joint-Student Dinner was held in October with the HVCC & RPI Student Chapters. ASCE arranged a panel discussion for the students, comprised of ASCE members, who answered various student questions and elaborated on their personal careers. The panel consisted of
Model Bridge Competition was held at Capital District's Engineers Week. The Structural Technical Group organized event that had over 90 high school students competing. Channel 10 News covered the event this year. It was quite a set-up with (2) load cells going with cameras depicting the results onto a screen for everyone to see.
